SUMMARY:August Virtual Meeting on Zoom
DESCRIPTION:Our meeting begins at 12:30 pm (Pacific time).  Feel free to join at 12:00 if you would like to chat and get to know members before the meeting begins.  We will be discussing “The Adventure of the Six Napoleons” from The Return of Sherlock Holmes.  Read the full story online here.  There will also be a special guest presentation by SOB Tim Kline. \n  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nInstructions for Joining our Virtual meeting:\n\nZoom can be used with a computer or a phone; even if you don’t have the Zoom app or go to the Zoom website\, you can still call in with a 253 area code!  We will send out the meeting ID and Password at 9 AM on Sunday morning. If you won’t be able to access your email then\, please let us know and we will call or help you another way.  \n\nSmart phone or tablet option:\nDownload the Zoom app and launch it. It will ask for a meeting ID and a password.\n_________\nRegular phone option:\nCall (253) 215-8782\n\nSome additional help here:  \nhttps://support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/201362663-Joining-a-meeting-by-phone \n\n_________\nComputer option:\nIf you use your computer\, you will need at least a working microphone and speaker. If you have a camera you can use that too\, but it’s not mandatory.\nWhen you launch Zoom\, it will ask you about your microphone and speaker\, and your camera if you have one. Pick what works for you. You can always turn the camera off at any time.\n\nTo Download Zoom:\n\nhttps://zoom.us/support/download \n\n\nThis will either ask to download\, or download immediately. Don’t worry either way. \nLaunch it and use the meeting ID and password.\n\n\nWhen the meeting starts the host will let you into the meeting. Don’t worry if you’re in the “waiting room” for a minute or two. I highly recommend you watch the video Margaret found below\, and/or download Zoom and look at the Zoom website ahead of time so you are familiar with it for Sunday. It’s not super hard\, just takes a few minutes to feel comfortable!\n\n\nNotes:\nYou may be muted when you enter the room\, depending on the settings. Find the little microphone icon and click it to unmute yourself. Similarly – if you are not talking\, it is good practice to mute yourself so everyone can hear without background noise. The host may mute you if you are creating background noise.\n\nA good safety tip is to have a piece of paper or a cover over your camera screen ALL the time and to only remove it when you are using the camera.\n\n\n\nThis is the Zoom website if you want to take a look at what they offer and how it works:  \nhttps://zoom.us/ \n\n\nHere is the Zoom FAQ:  \nhttps://support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/206175806-Frequently-Asked-Questions \n\n\n\n\nThis is a helpful video Margaret found: \nhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9isp3qPeQ0E

SUMMARY:Dr. John H. Watson Picnic at Seahurst Park in Burien
DESCRIPTION:Mark your calendar now for our combined Meeting & Picnic on Sunday\, July 13. The Picnic will be our (nearly) annual celebration of all things Watson—the 28th “Dr. John H. Watson Picnic” at Seahurst Park in Burien\, WA.  No story to study – come to eat\, socialize and play Sherlockian games (no skill required). \nYour contribution of food\, sweets and beverages to this potluck event will be most appreciated! \nSeahurst Park in Burien\, WA is a gorgeous site\, nestled in a residential area\, right on the Sound. It is very centrally located: Burien is west of I‐5 from Exit 154\, which puts it midway between Seattle and Tacoma\, making it handy for those on the Eastside too and not that far from Oregon or British Columbia. \nWe’ll be at our regular site—the south shelter— with three long tables\, a BBQ grill\, and a beach just steps away. Come early as parking can be\nat a premium later in the day.
