Michael Kurland is in the process of completing The Empress of India, his sequel to The Great Game.  Michael Kurland also tells the SOBs that he will be editing a new collection of Sherlock Holmes stories which will take place during the Great Hiatus including at least one involving what Watson was doing during that period.
Leslie Klinger’s 2-Volume Annotation of the 56 Sherlock Holmes short stories is due out from Norton in November.  He tells the SOBs that it may be possible for us to order directly from the publisher.  Since the price is scheduled to be $80, if this option comes to pass, we might be able to get it for $60 or less.  Les might also come to Seattle as part of his signing tour.  We will let you know as we get further details.  But start saving your money!

The Singular Adventures of Mr. Sherlock Holmes by Alan Stockwell is a collection of  short stories presented in the classic manner,  as though it were Dr. Watson offering a further selection of exploits from his famous tin box.  This 245-page paperback contains 15 new cases. The 2004 edition of "The Hounds' Collection" is now available; it’s a lively mix of interesting, entertaining, and thought-provoking material covering 62 pages.  SOB Stu Shiffman writes in appreciation of the late, great Poul Anderson, an author who often sprinkled his science fiction stories with Sherlockian motifs, and also contributed artwork.  SOB Karen Murdock reviews the arguments relating to the "glass/grass-strewn" wall over which Holmes and Watson scrambled when escaping from Appledore Towers in "The Adventure of Charles Augustus Milverton".  Price and ordering details:  Postpaid by airmail: US$12, via PayPal in US$ to: bbarnes@ozemail.com.au.
According to Peter Blau, the Abbey National—long-time resident in Baker Street and with a history of providing a secretary to answer mail sent to Holmes at 221B—closed its headquarters there and no longer answers Holmes’ mail.  Letters sent to 221B are now forwarded to The Sherlock Holmes Museum.
SOB Paula Lowery writes that the Ancient Egypt Studies Assn. has a number of upcoming
trips planned.  Their “Museums of the United Kingdom” in 2005 will tour big Egyptian collections of
the British Isles, including Edinburgh Castle, Liverpool Museum, Amelia Edwards Grave, and more.
